If you run a WordPress blog, you already know there’s a section of the dashboard that’s almost hilariously useless. It’s called “Search Terms” and it almost always lists just a single entry: “Unknown Search Terms”.
Why they decided to keep it when search engines no longer reveal their search terms I have no idea. Maybe it’s nostalgia. Maybe it’s laziness. Maybe blogs that get a lot more search traffic than me actually get some sort of useful information from it. *shrugs*
Anyway, I absolutely love it when there’s an actual search term in the box. How does it get there? Who made that search? Where in the world are they located? Which page did they end up on? Did they stick around? Did they find what they were looking for? None of that information is available to me. Instead, all I get is that single line of words; a window into the wants and needs of one of my daily visitors…
2019 annabelle lee lesbian movies
That’s it. That’s what it says. Whoever found my humble little blog was using Google (it’s the only search engine listed for traffic today) to look for lesbian movies this year starring porn actress Annabelle Lee (also sometimes spelt AnnaBelle Lee). So what was going on? Were they just looking for masturbation fodder? Or perhaps they were writing an article of their own about Ms Lee? How did Google decide that my site was appropriate (I can’t find any reference to her in any of my articles, even accidentally)?
It also makes me wonder why the person searching decided to click the link through to my site. I mean, clearly they weren’t looking for erotic writing, they were looking for more visual stimulus. And I don’t hold that against them. But something made them decide to click through.
I guess in the end I’m just rambling here. I’ve got no answers to any of the questions in my head, I just find it fascinating that someone searching for something with only a very tenuous link to my writing decided to give me a shot. Maybe they left as soon as they realised they weren’t going to find what they were looking for.
Anyway, if you run a blog I’d love to know the most bizarre search term that has ever found its way onto your site. How does it relate to your writing? Did it even have the tenuous link here that I write a lot of lesbian erotica?
Let me know in the comments!
Oh, and here’s a link to IMDB if you want to check out Annabelle Lee’s porn movies. Unfortunately for my visitor, it doesn’t look like there’s anything for the last 3 years.
seems that search engine lives its own life 😉
